In Austria, the sub-sector Solid Waste Disposal (part of Waste) was responsible for 0.88 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 1.1% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (4.08 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have decreased by 78.5%. Under existing measures, emissions are projected to reach 0.37 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.
