In Austria, the sub-sector Solid waste disposal (part of Waste) was responsible for 0.9 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 1.1% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (4.08 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have decreased by 78%. Under existing measures, emissions are projected to reach 0.36 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.
