In Bulgaria, the sub-sector Agricultural soils (part of Agriculture) was responsible for 3.59 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 7.4% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (4.9 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have decreased by 26.8%. Under existing measures, emissions are projected to reach 3.41 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.
What is part of this sector? Emissions caused by the fertilisation of soil (e.g. nitrogen fertiliser, liquid manure, sewage sludge) or by urine and manure from grazing animals.
This sub-sector accounts for 53% of Agriculture emissions in Bulgaria.
