In Germany, the sector Waste was responsible for 4.49 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 0.6% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (41.21 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have decreased by 89.1%. Under existing measures, emissions from this sector are projected to reach 2.9 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.
