In Ireland, the sector Waste was responsible for 0.83 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 1.4% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (1.71 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have decreased by 51.2%. Under existing measures, emissions from this sector are projected to reach 0.5 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.
