In Netherlands, the sector Waste was responsible for 3.25 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 1.9% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (16.3 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have decreased by 80%. Under existing measures, emissions from this sector are projected to reach 1.7 Mt CO₂eq by 2040.
