In Portugal, the sector Buildings was responsible for 3.12 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 5.5% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (3.08 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have increased by 1.4%. Under existing measures, emissions from this sector are projected to reach 2.5 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.
