In Romania, the sub-sector Solid Waste Disposal (part of Waste) was responsible for 4.35 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 3.8% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (1.54 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have increased by 183.4%. Under existing measures, emissions are projected to reach 0.35 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.
