Agricultural soils
In Spain, the sub-sector Agricultural soils (part of Agriculture) was responsible for 6.48 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 2.2% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (6 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have increased by 8%. Under existing measures, emissions are projected to reach 6.10 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.
What is part of this sector? Emissions caused by the fertilisation of soil (e.g. nitrogen fertiliser, liquid manure, sewage sludge) or by urine and manure from grazing animals.
This sub-sector accounts for 14.6% of Agriculture emissions in Spain.
