In Greece, the sub-sector Petroleum refining (part of Energy) was responsible for 5.28 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 6.8% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (2.38 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have increased by 122%. Under existing measures, emissions are projected to reach -1.36 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.
