In Hungary, the sub-sector Agricultural soils (part of Agriculture) was responsible for 3.43 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 5.5% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (3.39 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have increased by 1.2%. Under existing measures, emissions are projected to reach 3.34 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.
What is part of this sector? Emissions caused by the fertilisation of soil (e.g. nitrogen fertiliser, liquid manure, sewage sludge) or by urine and manure from grazing animals.
This sub-sector accounts for 39.1% of Agriculture emissions in Hungary.
