Enteric Fermentation

In Hungary, the sub-sector Enteric Fermentation (part of Agriculture) was responsible for 2.36 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 3.7% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (4.11 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have decreased by 42.4%. Under existing measures, emissions are projected to reach 2.25 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.

What is part of this sector? Emissions produced during digestive processes (burping & flatulence) of farm animals such as cows, pigs, goats, poultry, sheep, horses and deer.

This sub-sector accounts for 26.9% of Agriculture emissions in Hungary.
