Domestic Aviation

In Portugal, the sub-sector Domestic Aviation (part of Mobility) was responsible for 0.34 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 0.6% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (0.18 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have increased by 90.3%. Under existing measures, emissions are projected to reach 0.15 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.

What is part of this sector? Emissions from civil air traffic within the country, including take-off, landing and distance travelled. Although international and military aircraft movements are recorded in other categories, international aircraft movements are not included in the aggregated balance for a country.
