In Romania, the sector Energy was responsible for 28.33 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 24.6% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (105.89 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have decreased by 73.2%. Under existing measures, emissions from this sector are projected to reach 4.7 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.
