In Romania, the sub-sector Solid Fuels (part of Energy) was responsible for 5.96 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 5.2% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (6.57 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have decreased by 9.4%. Under existing measures, emissions are projected to reach 5.05 Mt CO₂eq by 2040.
