In Belgium, the sector Waste was responsible for 1.45 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 1.3% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (4.82 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have decreased by 70%. Under existing measures, emissions from this sector are projected to reach 0.7 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.
