Incineration and open burning of waste

In Belgium, the sub-sector Incineration and open burning of waste (part of Waste) was responsible for 0.47 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 0.4% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (0.35 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have increased by 34.3%. Under existing measures, emissions are projected to reach 0.22 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.
