In Belgium, the sub-sector Solid waste disposal (part of Waste) was responsible for 0.58 Mt CO₂eq of emissions in the year 2021, which is 0.5% of total emissions in that year. Compared to 1990 (3.32 Mt CO₂eq), emissions have decreased by 82.4%. Under existing measures, emissions are projected to reach 0.25 Mt CO₂eq by 2050.
